I started out in Kharkiv, Ukraine 🇺🇦, but I’ve taken the scenic route to get here.
I originally moved to China🇨🇳 to chase a Master's degree, but I quickly realized that sitting in a lecture hall wasn't nearly as exciting as what was happening outside of it. So, I swapped the textbooks for the local startup scene and launched my first company instead.
When the world paused for COVID, I kept moving. I spent those years as a software engineer in Mexico🇲🇽, living the true digital nomad cliché—hunting for strong WiFi, working with early-stage startups, and freelancing from wherever I could set down a laptop.
After years of living out of a suitcase, I finally decided to put down roots (and buy some actual furniture). I’ve been settled in Valencia, Spain🇪🇸 for a year now, bringing a global perspective and a lot of chaotic startup energy to everything I build.
Why I started Tech Wave Hires
Let's be honest: software engineers generally don't have a high opinion of recruiters. Neither do I.
I never wanted to be a recruiter. One day, I was hanging out in Puerto Escondido, Mexico, and a friend of mine asked me if I knew any kick-ass developers in Mexico who I could recommend. I did.
That was the easiest money I’ve ever made in my life!!!
Then I started thinking. I had a pretty good network of startups from my early days, and I was running a community for developers in Mexico City. I had enough expertise to actually tell if candidates were any good.
And that's how Tech Wave Hires was born!
